Senator Bernie Sanders is in back on the campaign trail for his second attempt at running for the presidency. The Democrat candidate called out Donald Trump, telling him to ‘stay out’ of the primary of his party.
In an interview with Anderson Cooper on CNN, Sanders called out Trump who accused the Democrats of “running a coup” against him. The Democratic presidential candidate told Trump to “stay out of the Democratic primaries" following the president’s accusations against members of Sanders’ party. “Why don’t you do your job for a change as president. Stop lying, stop running a corrupt administration. Pay attention to the American people, not just your own political aims,” said Sanders.
Trump has repeatedly suggested that the Democratic primary was being rigged in favor of fellow candidate Joe Biden. Trump even tweeted that the Democrats were supposedly staging a “coup” against Sanders prior to his North Carolina rally, and continued telling reporters this as he met with them at the White House lawn.
Sanders continued on with his call out of Trump, saying that he wishes that the president do his job and focus on the more concerning matters at hand. “You know what, I really wish the president of the United States, might kind of spend time doing his job. Maybe, just maybe, he might want to worry about the coronavirus, he might want to worry about the stock market…” said Sanders, adding the very noticeable inequality of wealth among citizens as well as the homeless.
Regarding the accusations that his fellow candidates are conspiring against him, Sanders brushed those off. The Vermont senator explained his determination that, should he become president, his administration will transform the country’s economy and government so that it would work for everyone and not just the wealthy. He also explained that another reason why he is running again is to simply defeat Trump as well.
Meanwhile, MSN reports that Trump ripped into former mayor Pete Buttigieg and Senator Amy Klobuchar for their decision to support Biden for the Democratic nomination. During his North Carolina rally, Trump had some choice words to say towards Buttigieg and Klobuchar, saying that they should be impeached. “Sounds like they made a deal. They both supported sleepy Joe. You know why? They made a deal” and called their supposed decision a “quid pro quo” and then said that both should be impeached.
